It is every mother’s horror – out in a public place, surrounded by 1000’s of strangers, and suddenly she realizes her child is missing! One such particular mother became frantic at a musical show in California. As the lights dimmed and the concert was about to begin, she checked the seat beside her and discovered her little boy had wandered off. She began the frantic search for him.
It was just then that the curtains opened to reveal the stage and the spotlight focused on the huge Steinway. Now with a renewed but different sense of panic, she discovered (together with the thousands seated there) where her little boy had gone. For seated at the grand piano, innocently pecking out Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star, was her little boy!
It was at that moment the Piano Master made his entrance on stage. He walked over and whispered in the little boy’s ear, “Don’t quit. Keep playing.” He leaned over the boy, reached down, and with his left hand began filling in the bass part. Then, with his right hand, he added a running obbligato. Together the Grand Master and the little boy took what could have been a disaster and turned it into a beautiful and creative experience for all who were there. Most in attendance, when later questioned, cited Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star as their favorite and most memorable part of the event!
You and I have a Grand Master who is always leaning over our shoulder saying, “Don’t quit. Keep playing.” [see Galatians 6:9] Like that Piano Master, He will put His loving arms around us, if we let Him, and turn what might otherwise be one of our worst moments into one of the greatest.
And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose. ~ Romans 8:28
That is the most beautiful story, and it illustrates the most beautiful point: that it we don’t quit, and just keep on keeping on, God will work everything else out, for the faithful!
Amen! What a great story!
